If memory serves me, Keats almost had the status of Shakespeare.

Like Shakespeare Keats was able to dodge poetry critics!  Poe almost did the same, but his enemies and morbid fascinations got in the way.  Boudilaire was able to recreate the greatness of Poe in France, but not outside of France?
