I think the health practices that allowed many more Jews to survive the BLACK PLAGUE is what caused the greatest FEAR and confusion around Jews.

Hence the desire to OTHER THEM still after Hitler and the holocaust.  Yes the deaths were very divided between Gentiles and Jews!
