I can't understand sheer aggressiveness, but sometimes it is assumed that men are naturally in conflict with each other. That some believe it is even faggy to be nice. So I should not be overly surprised.
It is not our role to tell people what role others have. Hurt is not right but it happens. Some people need to know you care about them and appreciate them and that makes it better. Plus adding fire to the fire can often make only a larger fire. Be kind to those who hurt you and know that they themselves may be hurting. Often in the form of unhappiness.
